Noriko Fujii specializes in Japanese language and linguistics with current research on discourse analysis and language change. Dr. Fujii has developed a Japanese language program based on proficiency-oriented instruction and organized a teacher training program for the Japanese Teaching Assistant Program sponsored by the Japan Foundation. She published the book Historical Discourse Analysis: Grammatical Subject in Japanese (1991). In 1992, she received a Scholarly and Creative Development Award from the University of Oregon for research on "Organization of Information by Particles in Japanese Conversation."
