Language Teaching Specialization Graduate Admissions

Admission Requirements

Admission into the M.A. program assumes the completion of a B.A. in linguistics, a specific language, TEFL, or a related field (preferably with a TEFL certificate).

Application Deadline

Admissions are accepted year-round. However, students may enter the program only Summer or Fall term; therefore acceptance into the program will be determined only after the initial application deadline each year. A new program begins each summer term. Students who have taken the required courses offered summer term may enter in the Fall.

Deadlines for Summer or Fall:

  • February 15 (for early notification)
  • After February 15, there is rolling deadline until the enrollment cap is reached.

International Students should consider the amount of time it will take for

  • Graduate Admissions Committee review,
  • UO Admissions Office review of the financial statement and subsequent issuance and receipt of an I-20 (which typically takes 4-6 weeks after the department admissions decision and receipt of the financial statement), and
  • time needed to get a visa in their countries once the I-20 has been received.
